Lesson 2 - body parts

the part of the body located between the chest (thorax) and the pelvis. It contains important organs such as the stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and kidneys. It is commonly referred to as the belly or stomach area.

Abdomen

the upper limb of the human body, extending from the shoulder to the wrist.

Arm

the hollow space located beneath the junction of the arm and the shoulder.

Armpit/axilla

refers to either of the two rounded portions of the human body located at the back of the pelvis, commonly known as the glutes or gluteal region.

Buttock

refers to the back portion of the lower leg, situated between the knee and the ankle.

Calf

An anatomical space within the body that contains different organs

Cavity

refers to the fleshy, lateral part of the face located between the eyes and the jaw. It is composed of skin, muscle, and fat, contributing to facial expression and aesthetics.

Cheek

the front part of the body located between the neck and the abdomen. It houses vital organs, including the heart and lungs, which are protected by the rib cage.

Chest

a dome-shaped muscle that separates the thoracic cavity (chest) from the abdominal cavity. It plays a crucial role in the process of breathing.

Diaphragm

refers to a limb or appendage of the body. Extremities are crucial for movement, coordination, and manipulation of objects.

Extremity

a strip of hair located above the eye on the forehead.

eyebrow

is a hair that grows at the edge of the eyelids.

eyelash

a thin fold of skin that covers and protects the eye. Each eye has an upper and a lower eyelid, and they serve several important functions

eyelid

one of the five digits on a human hand, typically used for grasping, manipulating objects, and performing tasks requiring dexterity.

finger

the part of the human arm that extends from the elbow to the wrist.

forearm

the area of the face located above the eyebrows and below the hairline. It is part of the frontal region of the skull

forehead

it connects the upper limb to the trunk. It consists of two clavicles (collarbones) and two scapulae (shoulder blades).

girdle

refers to the area where the abdomen meets the thighs, located on either side of the pubic region.

groin

refers to the region of the body located on either side of the pelvis, where the upper thigh bone (femur) meets the pelvis.

hip

the second digit of the human hand, located between the thumb and the middle finger.

index finger

refers to the bony structure in the lower part of the face that holds the teeth and is involved in chewing and speaking.

jaw

a point in the body where two or more bones meet, allowing for movement and flexibility.
